Atlas Leads the Way in Heat- and Corrosion-Resistant Steel Tubing
All of the quality that customers have grown to expect from Atlas heat- and corrosion-resistant stainless and aluminized steel now is packed into each and every piece that comes off Atlas’ own tube-manufacturing line. We invested in developing our own tube manufacturing process to satisfy the exacting needs of customers who require precision materials for the most demanding applications.
Our Rafter electric resistance weld tube mill and Haven cut-off line are operated by skilled associates whose attention to detail is focused on each and every order. Atlas runs stainless and aluminized steel on the mill, producing sizes ranging from ¾-inch to 3-inch diameters in wall thicknesses from .024- to .135-inch in a wide variety of lengths depending on customers’ requirements.
Atlas welded steel tubing products include:
Austenitic (300 series) stainless – ASTM A249 for heat exchangers and condenser tubes; ASTM A554 mechanical tubing; and ASTM A269 for general service.
Ferritic (400 series) stainless – ASTM A268 for general service and ASTM A554 mechanical tubing.
Carbon and coated steel – ASTM A513 and ASTM A787 mechanical tubing.
Every order for our steel tube-making operation is tested and retested before the actual mill run commences. We put our tubing through a series of crush and bend tests to make sure the weld process is flawless. During the run itself, all welds are automatically checked. All tubing sections are numbered and time/day-dated for complete traceability.
Atlas associates are innovators in steel packaging, and that includes tubing as well. We have custom-designed rugged, returnable shipping racks for customers. We pack tubing in traditional hex and wood-frame bundles, and every order goes out on an Atlas’ pre-approved carrier. All loading occurs out of the weather, in our heated bay, and shipments are completely and securely covered so that customers receive clean steel that is rust- and oxidation-free.
